Notif vs Memory AI (2026): an AI assistant or help with each reminder?
Memory AI is a subscription AI assistant that records meetings, plans your calendar and keeps your notes on its servers. Notif keeps each note in Apple Reminders and adds something worth knowing and the next step. Here's how they differ on reminders, privacy, account and price
Memory AI is the better pick if you want one AI assistant that records your meetings, plans your calendar and remembers things about you, and you're fine paying for a subscription and keeping your notes on its servers. Notif is the better pick if your reminders live in Apple Reminders and you want help finishing each everyday one, with no account and the option to keep a note private.
I make Notif, so weigh what follows with that in mind. I've tried to describe Memory AI only from its own App Store listing and privacy policy, and to say plainly where it does more than Notif.
One thing first: there are several iPhone apps with "Memory" in the name. This article is about Memory AI - Reminders & Tasks by Sizze Inc., the one that shows up when people search for AI reminder apps. If you have a different one, the comparison won't fit.
What each app actually is
Memory AI is an AI assistant that happens to make reminders. Its App Store listing calls it "your personal AI for memory, tasks, and calendar planning," and lists saving notes and ideas, creating tasks and reminders, planning your day and calendar, capturing meetings with recordings and summaries, voice input, and connecting your apps. Its site is a single page with one line, "An AI that remembers everything about you," and a link to the App Store. The listing's version history adds a recorder for voice and screen, Live Activities, quick reminders from Siri and Control Center, Shortcuts, Apple Calendar import, Google Calendar sync, family spaces for sharing events, and a "web assistant" that, in its words, "can now work on websites for you."
Notif is a reminders app for iPhone and iPad that sits on top of Apple Reminders. You write a note the way you'd say it, like "renew the passport" or "call Mom Sunday," and Notif adds one line worth knowing (the Insight) and a button for the next step (the Action Button): call the person, get directions, open the right site or app. It doesn't record meetings, run your calendar or act on websites for you.
So Memory AI is a chat assistant with your notes, calendar and recordings inside it. Notif is your Reminders list, with a little help on each line.

Where Memory AI is better
Meetings. This is the clearest gap. Memory AI records a call or your screen and gives you a summary to act on. Notif has nothing like it. If your reminders mostly come out of meetings, Memory AI catches them at the source.
One assistant for the whole day. You talk to Memory AI the way you'd talk to a person: what's on tomorrow, move the dentist, remind me about the passport. It plans your day across your calendar and tasks in one chat. Notif doesn't plan your calendar for you; on Pro, with Apple Intelligence on iOS 27, it can show a short daily plan, but it's a reminders app first.
Google Calendar and sharing. If your calendar lives in Google, Memory AI's version history says it syncs with it. Its family spaces let you share events with the people close to you. Notif works with Apple's own Reminders and Calendar only, and has no sharing of its own.
More devices. The listing says it runs on Macs with Apple silicon and on Apple Vision Pro as well as iPhone and iPad. Notif is iPhone and iPad only, and reaches your Mac and Apple Watch through Apple Reminders.
Where Notif is better
Your reminders stay in Apple Reminders. Every Notif note is a real reminder in Apple Reminders. It writes to its own list. Never yours. Your notes show up on your Mac and Apple Watch through Reminders, and if you stop using Notif, they're still there. Memory AI keeps your notes in its own app and on its own servers, and doesn't mention Apple Reminders at all.
Help with the thing itself. Memory AI's AI turns what you say into a reminder or a calendar entry. Notif's is about the next step once the reminder exists. "Call Mom" gets a button that calls her, and Notif asks once who "Mom" is, then remembers. "Renew the passport" can come back with the right official page, and official links are only ever pages the search actually cited. Unprompted weather appears only at 30%+ precipitation or snow, so "walk the dog at 6" stays quiet on a dry evening.
You can use it without paying. Memory AI's listing says the app needs an active subscription or free trial. Notif is free, with one Insight a day and 7 a week; writing notes, widgets and Siri don't count against it.
No account. Notif has no sign-up and no Notif cloud copy of your notes. Memory AI's privacy policy describes collecting your name and email address when you create an account, and lists Sign in with Apple among its services.
Private notes. This is the biggest difference, so it gets its own section.
Privacy, side by side
Memory AI's privacy policy is short and unusually direct. It says the AI processes "the text you submit — chat messages, transcripts of your voice/screen recordings, and the reminders and notes you create." It names the provider: DeepSeek, which "processes your content only on our instructions to return a response and does not use it to train its own models." Your data "is stored securely on our servers hosted on DigitalOcean" and kept "only as long as needed to provide the service." It also uses PostHog for anonymized usage analytics, which the policy says you can opt out of. That's more than most apps tell you, and credit to them for it.
What the policy doesn't offer is a way to keep one note out. Every reminder and note you create is in the AI-processed category, so if something shouldn't go to an AI provider, it doesn't belong in the app.
Notif's privacy policy works the other way around. When Insights are on, a note that isn't private can be sent, one note at a time, over an encrypted connection to Notif's server and on to an AI provider (currently OpenAI and/or Anthropic) to write its Insight. Notif's server does not store your note content, and Notif's logs never contain note text. You can turn Automatic Insights off, so a note is only sent when you tap for it, or turn Insights off entirely.
And you can mark any note private. What's true of a private note in Notif:
- A private note is never sent to Notif's server or to any AI.
- A private note stays inside Notif. Marking it private takes it out of Apple Reminders, and it is never written there again.
- Private notes are encrypted on your iPhone with AES-256.
- Opening a private note asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
- Private notes never show up on your widgets, and never show up in iPhone search.
- A private note's alerts never show its words on your Lock Screen.
- Marking a note private is part of Notif Pro.
The key lives in your iCloud Keychain, so keep it on and private notes come with you to a new iPhone. Like the rest of Notif's data, a private note's encrypted copy is part of your own iPhone backup. To be clear, not every Notif note is private, only the ones you mark.
Whichever app you choose, the iPhone has a layer of its own. Touch and hold an app's icon and tap Require Face ID, and Apple's lock or hide an app guide says information inside a locked app won't appear in places like notification previews, search or Siri suggestions. That works for Memory AI and Notif alike, though it keeps people out of the app on your phone, not the app's AI out of your notes.
What each costs
As of October 2026, Memory AI's App Store listing shows Memory AI Pro at $9.99 a month or $29.90 a year, along with a Pro Weekly plan at $4.90, another Pro Monthly at $9.90, an annual promo at $14.99, and AI credit packs from $9.99 to $99.99. Check the price inside the app before you subscribe. There's no free tier: the app needs a subscription or free trial.
Notif is free, with one Insight a day, 7 a week. Notif Pro is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, cancel any time, and puts an Insight on every note and adds private notes.
Paid yearly, Memory AI is the cheaper subscription. But it's a subscription you need from day one, while Notif's free tier may be all some people ever use.
Who should pick which
- Pick Memory AI if your day is full of meetings you need notes from, you'd rather talk to one assistant than manage lists, your calendar is in Google, or you want to share events with family
- Pick Notif if you already use Apple Reminders, your list is everyday errands like "drop off the UPS return" or "book a dentist cleaning," you want the next step one tap away, you don't want an account, or some notes need to stay private and away from any AI
- Use both if Memory AI handles your meetings and calendar and Apple Reminders holds your errands. Notif sits on the Reminders side, so they barely overlap
The verdict
Memory AI and Notif get listed together as AI reminder apps, but they're different kinds of thing. Memory AI is an assistant you subscribe to: it records, plans and remembers, and everything you give it goes to its servers and its AI provider, which it names honestly. Notif is a reminders app that helps you finish the small things on your list, keeps them in Apple Reminders, needs no account, and lets you keep a note private, encrypted on your iPhone and never sent to Notif's server or to any AI.
If meetings and a full calendar are your problem, choose Memory AI. If your problem is a Reminders list that keeps growing, I built Notif for you.
